Hello World: Why I'm Starting This Blog

Hey there

I'm Jacopo — a Senior IT & Security Engineer based in Japan, with 15+ years across cloud security, identity & access management, and IT governance. I work with startups and growing organizations as a remote contractor, turning reactive IT operations into proactive, product-minded engineering.

Most recently that's meant securing distributed teams with Zero Trust (Cloudflare), enforcing least privilege at scale with Terraform on AWS, and automating security workflows in Python across Okta, Google Workspace, and the rest of the SaaS stack. I'm equally comfortable owning infrastructure end to end and mapping it to frameworks like PCI-DSS and NIST.

Right now I'm contracting at Meedan — auditing services, rightsizing cloud spend, and building catalogIT, an open-source asset catalog that replaced fragmented spreadsheets and SnipeIT. I'm also retained by Welltech as an Atlassian consultant after helping them scale their IT & Security function, migrate the org to Jira, and get audit-ready. Before that, I spent four years at Glovo as a Platform Security Engineer, leading the move from legacy VPN to identity-based access for thousands of endpoints.

This blog is where I'll share what I learn along the way: practical tips, project write-ups, lessons from the field, and the occasional deep-dive into something that caught my attention.
